Received from Vlcaks.com:

Copied from an email sent out by Marcy @ Galomy Oak Kennel:

First, we have our first rescue situation in the United States. For anyone that keeps up with the forum, recently a dog was imported to California by a young man that does not have the capacity to work with a wolfdog. The breeder has tried to work with this family, but they simply can’t care for the dog. They have tried trainers, classes, and we have been trying to advise… not a good situation. So, now they are looking to rehome.

The good: The dog’s name is Xavier od Uhoste (Czech Rep.). http://wolfdog.org/eng/dbase/d11860.html
I like the breeding, and I like the breeder – this background has a ton of working and conformation potential. Xavier is currently 7.5 months old, and is described as being very mouthy, open and friendly. He currently plays in the dog park, with typical CSV “force”. The new owner and breeder are open to shipping this puppy to the right home.

The bad: Very little training, poor home socialization

The ugly: Xavier had surgery for some kind of a bowel obstruction several months back. I don’t believe this would influence the dog’s potential for work or breeding. He still currently has some issues with loose stool (I think it could at least partially corrected by diet). I believe the young man of the house (24ish) has gotten physical with the dog, to the point where the dog has tried to defend itself…The family wants their money back for the dog (they want to sell it). They are looking to get $1500. I don’t think this will happen; if it does, I fear it will go to an even worse home. I have expressed this to the breeder.

If you are interested in adopting Xavier, please email Marcy at kennel (at) galomyoak (dot) com.

I’ve received some inquiries on why we include both AKC and UKC / FCI standards on our sites and the answer is quite simple: to give people the whole picture. While most aspects of the standards are the same, there may be subtle differences between the two and while someone may have a great representation for one set of standards, they may not be a good candidate for the other.

At the del Mango Network we also strive on promoting the dogs and concentrating on the betterment of the dogs, not club affiliation (which in itself can easily open up a large political can of worms).

Also, the standards concentrate on physical appearance, build, and temperament, they discuss very little in the dogs’ working ability.

Casa del Mango would like to announce the result og Kiri’s DM test which was certified by OFA:

“This dog is homozygous N/N with two NORMAL copies of the gene associated with Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) susceptibility”.

This means that Kiri is not a carrier, in any way, of the DM gene and if she is bred to a stud who is abnormal / abnormal (carrier and active) then her puppies would, at worst, be carriers since the gene is recessive.

Fred Lanting has announced his 2009 Sieger show tour.

The SV Bundessieger-Zuchtschau (BSZS or Sieger Show) in Germany is generally held in the last week of August or first week in September at a different location each year, depending on stadiums available. (The cost of stadium for this one-weekend event, and the competition with soccer/football events that sign contracts for many per year, determine the choice.) For the past 20 years or so, I have offered my non-profit 6-7-day guided tour of the show and sightseeing, including visits to kennels and training clubs. Get an SV judge’s perspective of the bloodlines and procedures, along with experienced introductions to Germany’s culture and beauty. My groups come from all parts of the globe, so even just the companionship is like a world-travel experience. We usually arrive on the Wed. or Thurs. before the show, and return the following Wednesday.

For more information, please check out the announcement on Fred’s site.
